Biometrics is a security measure employed to uniquely identify individuals based on their biological or physiological characteristics. Biometrics is used as an additional means to provide authentication or can be used as the primary means of authentication. Some of the common recognition traits used in biometrics include fingerprints and people’s eyes. The use of personal traits by a biometric identification system can pose privacy concerns.
Explain how biometric identification and security is achieved. In addition, provide researched information you found to justify your opinions.
Using the Internet and other sources, research the topic of biometrics. Some areas you address are: What type of biometrics is the most accurate? Is the lease accurate? Are specific biometric devices more realistic than others? What are some of the characteristics of biometric identification? What are some of the advantages of using biometric identification? What are some of the privacy concerns in employing biometric identification techniques? The use of biometrics to verify identity within every industry. Your research should include but is not limited to the following topics:
a) types of biometrics
b) use to verify who you are
c) types of verifications using biometrics
d) security concerns
e) privacy concerns
Your response should be at least two complete pages of content. Your Word document should include a title page, be Times New Roman 12 pt. font and double-spaced with 1-inch margins. The title page and references page will not be considered as part of the page count for this assignment. In addition, graphics or tables do not count towards the minimum content page count. Be sure to use APA style citations and references when you are citing any sources to support your claims. There is a 30% deduction for written assignments that do not meet the minimum page content requirements. This deduction is taken before your document is graded.
