Please note the following: 1. Maintain the project log-book on a weekly basis with activities/tasks you are performing. 2. Literature review is based on the standard literature (research papers, standards and codes of practice, books, government ma nuals/guidelines, Master and PhD theses, etc.) related to your project topic. You should cite the work from the literature as summarised in this chapter. While reviewing the literature, you should try to learn the current knowledge about your project topic, and also make a list of the research/knowledge gaps. This list may be included in ‘conclusions’ sections. A strong literature review helps define the project objectives and problem, and you may also learn how to solve the defined project problem using the current knowledge and developing a new approach/technique/method as possible. 3. Design the sections in individual chapters in view of your project title and the study you have been carrying out. 4. Chapter 4 may be divided into two chapters depending on your project work. This chapter needs to have enough original work, including related calculations, analysis, design, figures, tables, design charts, critical discussion, field importance of work, creating a short video (8-10 min) based on your original findings/observations, etc. as applicable for your project. 5. In conclusions, present key findings/outcomes point-wise, not as a paragraph. & For typing, you should use the following: A4 size, 25 mm margin all around, Times New Roman, 12-point size, 1.5-line spacing. The symbols (not abbreviations) in text, equations, tables and figures, as applicable, should be typed in italics. 7. References should be cited and listed by following any referencing style consistently. & The equations, figures and tables should be numbered chapter-wise. It means that the first equation in Chapter 2 will be numbered as (2.1) with right justification. In a similar way, the first figure in Chapter 2 will be numbered as Fig. 2.1. 9. The report must be presented professionally and scientifically without technical and grammatical errors, as expected for real-life project applications. 10. Your project work and the final project report should demonstrate the best aspects of the following:
• Project work and management — motivation and initiative, diligence, documentation, rate of progress • Technical content — objectives, background, originality, creativity, independence, critical thinking, etc. • Presentation — structure, writing style, spelling and grammar, quality and strength of figures/tables, etc.
As said earlier, you should aim at achieving an excellence in your project. Certainly, you need to put your significant time and effort to complete your project in its best form, as possible.
At any stage of the project, it is important to demonstrate your professional confidence/judgement independently in completing the task/report with enough technical content and the best writing presentation, as expected from an engineering graduate.
