In one of the articles I read, “Does Inequality Increase Crime?”,…
· In most areas homicide rates fell by almost 50% since the 2000s besides Latin America
· Most Latin American countries experiences sustained economic growth in the 2000s
· Improved in poverty, inequality, and other social outcomes
· In the article the author raises e a question does a better economic condition actually led to more crime
· In this article they were studying cases from Mexico
· Even though Mexico was not one of countries we picked this is a key example
· In the study cases they found that municipalities that have lower inequality actually have lower crime rates
· In smaller regions the less the economic rate is the less the crime is
In the article it says inequality may increase crime from different things such as social tension to just increasing the economic returns to criminal activity. In the reading they also use the GINI coefficient to estimate the effect of inequality on crime.
Another article that I read was, “Does Inequality Cause Crime”,
· According to the article it said that the crime rate increases as income inequality and unemployment increases.
· Low levels of trust in countries can contribute to higher inequality and higher murder rates
· Research has been shown that more unequal societies usually have a higher crime rate and a lower social trust level.
· Studies have shown that income inequality usually leads to more violent crime because income gaps create social tension.
· Poverty and income inequality are definitely associated with violent crime.
· From the article analysis say that assault and homicide may be closely associated with poverty or income inequality than rape and robbery.

In the graph above, you see the Gini coefficient measure and homicide measure per hundred thousand people. The Gini coefficient measures the distribution of income or the distribution of wealth from the members of a population.
